Life Outside of STACK: Kim Johnson, Senior Director of Customer Success and Account Management

Kim Johnson, Senior Director of Customer Success and Account Management

Life Outside of STACK is our feature series that introduces you to some of the faces behind the brand. Today we are featuring our Senior Director of Customer Success and Account Management, Kim Johnson.

Tell us your job title, how long you’ve been at STACK, and briefly describe a typical day at work for you.

My title is Senior Director of Customer Success and Account Management. That’s a fancy way of saying ensuring our customers have a great experience, their needs are being met, and anticipating new ways that we can delight them. I have been at STACK for two and a half years. Each day is truly different! I typically meet with a different team member every day to hear how our customers are feeling, new requests they’re hearing from our customers, and help problem-solve new challenges. I’ll meet with our Product Managers to share and advocate important features for our customers. I’ll meet with Marketing to connect on ensuring our new features are being communicated to our customers the right way or brainstorming better ways to onboard our customers with New Sales.

What do you love about your job that would surprise most people?

I am passionate about the company I work for providing a product that truly positively impacts people. It’s gratifying to have learned about the construction industry and to see the positive impact the STACK software provides to our customers and their businesses.

What is the best piece of career advice you ever received?

I have two favorites “Yes, and….”. I always try to figure out what could be done when someone may ask a difficult question. The second-best advice I’ve received is “People will read something written in the worst tone possible.” As more of our communication in society moves away from phones and goes to text and chat, I always try and step back and review what I wrote to verify if the tone and words intend to communicate what I meant.

We know you’re great – hey, that’s why you work at STACK! Tell us about the great things (in detail) you do outside of work. Hobbies, interests, secret lives…

I am a big fan of craft beer and love going to new breweries across the U.S. I also recently became interested in houseplants and honestly had to put a spending limit on the number of houseplants I could buy. When the weather’s warmer, I love to go on a hike or go on our local bike trail. My biggest secret is I have a group of friends and for 10 years, we have had a monthly Movie Night group! We take turns showing a movie that’s either a favorite or one we think people have not seen before. I’m a quieter person but I have a secret love and passion for karaoke, which people never expect. I also love to travel – within the U.S. and to other countries. I always look for a new reason to add a stamp to my passport – I’ve been to 13 other countries so far and can’t wait to add more.

What’s your favorite local spot and why (restaurant, bar, music venue, whatever you want to share about your hood!)?

Sotto restaurant in Cincinnati. Amazing Italian food that is cooked perfectly every time with a wonderful atmosphere. It’s in the basement of an old building and just sets the perfect atmosphere where you can focus on the people you’re with while enjoying some delicious food and beverages.

What song have you completely memorized? Will you sing it for us? What about playing it on an instrument? How about a little dance instead?

Given my love of karaoke, of course I’ll sing it for you… “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac or any Tom Petty song.

What makes you truly happy?

Getting out in nature on a hike and playing board games all night with friends.

Kim Johnson, Senior Director of Customer Success and Account Management

If your life was a movie, what songs would be on the soundtrack?

“I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

If you could choose your own nickname, what would it be?
