Joe Thompson, President, noticed a niche market for framing. In their region of Arkansas, common practice is for a GC to work directly with a lumber yard to provide a framing package to a framing subcontractor. In this situation, the GC takes on liability because the lumber yard will not guarantee pricing, leaving a lot of uncertainty for the GC, who must cobble together an estimate with numbers from the supplier for material, the contractor for labor, and their own equipment.
Gen X Fills the Gap with Full Service
Because of the accuracy of STACK’s takeoff functionality, Gen X is able to confidently build a lumber package for the GC – using material assemblies for walls, roof, floors, etc., and including waste. As a framing contractor willing to provide the GC a guaranteed price, Gen X has no competition in their market. “We look a little bit higher on bid day,” Joe says, “but we take the liability and are willing to enter a contract with the GC so they have a guaranteed number they can plug in.”
