A True STACK Power User: From Learner to Leader
One of my customers is a general contractor and luxury custom home builder at a multi-million-dollar company. When he first started using STACK about five years ago, he was taking over the system from someone else and immediately dove in headfirst. Unlike users who focus on just the essentials, he wanted to understand and utilize every single feature. His curiosity and drive to learn set him apart right away to fully leverage STACK.
Back in 2021, he submitted a feature request asking for a “Copy Project” option—and not long after, that feature become part of the platform. He’s the kind of customer who not only benefits from STACK but also helps shape the software. Over the years, he’s stayed closely engaged with every product update, regularly provides thoughtful feedback, and attends our webinars to stay sharp.
When we introduced the Estimate Worksheet, he fully embraced it and aimed to become a true power user. He even met with STACK Senior Product Manager, David Fouche, sharing insights that gave our team valuable industry perspective in return.
I connect with him often to discuss updates, gather product feedback, and keep a pulse on how STACK is being used in the field. I still remember him showing me a finished custom tile bathroom where he used the STACK Explode feature for the grid pattern.

From Fragile Formulas to Effortless Estimating
A concrete contractor came to me with a legacy spreadsheet that was always breaking. Links failed, tabs conflicted, and he spent hours manually plugging in quantities from takeoffs for footings, slabs, and walls.
We mapped every step of his process, rebuilt his catalog with practical concrete items and assemblies, and wrote formulas that replaced fragile link chains. Most importantly, we worked together to set up his STACK Takeoff Library, making it easy to access the right data every time.
Now, he simply clicks and draws while quantities flow straight into the estimate. Pricing updates carry through automatically, and the manual entry that used to slow him down is gone.

Garrett began his career as an estimator for a large heavy civil construction company in Northern Virginia, later advancing to project manager. He then transitioned to the federal government, managing complex contracts and programs. Garrett brings a strong background in project delivery, cost analysis, and operational efficiency across both public and private sectors.
Custom Millwork Company Scales with STACK
I was assigned an account for a customer who bought online without speaking to our sales team first. I reached out to their CIO, who was eager to accelerate his team’s takeoff process. They’re a $50 million custom finish and millwork company that needed software capable of producing detailed material lists that could export directly into their reporting system.
But their challenge is that every project is unique. Their items and assemblies constantly change to reflect new options and customizations. Over the course of six weeks, we held three in-depth sessions to explore STACK’s features and align the platform with their workflow. Together, we built out assemblies that reflected their real-world projects and created a scalable estimating structure that could evolve with them.
The results spoke for themselves. They renewed early, added ten new users, and invested in STACK’s Professional Services to continue fine-tuning their system.
