Tell us your job title, how long you’ve been at STACK, and briefly describe a typical day at work for you.
I am the HR Administration Manager at STACK Construction Canada. I started 1.5 years ago and I couldn’t be happier! There are no typical days in HR! Interviews, activities planning, payroll, onboardings, answering employee’s questions, and making sure everyone is happy!
What do you love about your job that would surprise most people?
The Slack channels! We have SO many funny people at STACK that make me laugh out loud, at minimum once a day! I even got my own emoji! Super proud of it!
What is the best piece of career advice you ever received?
Take risks, believe in yourself and be happy! No job is worth your mental health or happiness.
Do you have any funny or embarrassing stories related to work (and safe for work?)?
I asked the COO if he had a bear. I meant on his land around his house, but he really thought I was asking if he owned a bear as a pet. So much for a first impression…
We know you’re great – hey, that’s why you work at STACK! Tell us about the great things (in detail) you do outside of work. Hobbies, interests, secret lives…
I do have a secret life (not so secret anymore). During the day I am a professional HR manager, but at night…I am…a metal band singer! I’ve always been passionate about music, and I go to a LOT of shows! I am also a crazy animal lover and take pictures of pretty much all the random dogs that I cross paths with (yes, I am that girl)!
What’s your favorite local spot and why (restaurant, bar, music venue, whatever you want to share about your hood!)?
Any small venues in Montreal that host punk/metal shows. I am a foodie, I can’t choose only one restaurant!
What song have you completely memorized? Will you sing it for us? What about playing it on an instrument? How about a little dance instead?
Gangsta’s Paradise is my karaoke song! (RIP Coolio)
What makes you truly happy?
Dogs, music and nice people!
If your life was a movie, what songs would be on the soundtrack?
All the songs I wrote, I guess!
If you could choose your own nickname, what would it be?
HR of the North! (Thanks Chris)
What causes are you passionate about?
Animal cruelty, homelessness, and mental health.
What is the most courageous thing you’ve ever done?
I honestly try to be courageous as much as I can. I push my limits very often. There are many occasions during my life when I took risks to make my life better! And it always paid up in the end!
