Bidding More Jobs Led To Winning More Work

Company Story:

With over 20 years of industry experience, Ball Acoustics & Drywall has been through a lot! The company got their start in 1998 when Cullen Ball formed the company as a sole-proprietorship and started working with just a few customers. Les Gatto, Officer and Chief Estimator, came on board in 2004 and helped grow the company significantly over the next 15 years. What once was a company with just 2 employees now has 25 employees today.

Ball Acoustics & Drywall provides commercial construction services. Specifically, they do metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings and installation related to those assemblies.

Overcoming Challenges:

Like many other companies in the construction industry, staffing is an ongoing issue for Ball Acoustics & Drywall. Finding and hiring skilled labor is difficult which makes meeting customer demands a challenge.

While there is no “magic bullet” to overcome this industry-wide challenge, Ball Acoustics & Drywall is facing the issue head-on. One of the best tactics to combat the labor shortage is to tap into their employees existing contacts. Employees’ friends and family members often make for great hires!

“STACK has sped us up and maintained our historical data very well. You can takeoff a job much faster with STACK than by hand.”

How STACK Has Helped Ball Acoustics & Drywall:

Prior to STACK, Ball Acoustics & Drywall did all their takeoffs by hand with hard copy blueprints. This was a time-consuming process that they knew they needed to speed up. “STACK has sped us up and maintained our historical data very well”, says Les Gatto, Officer & Chief Estimator. “You can takeoff a job much faster with STACK than by hand. It’s amazing how much quicker takeoffs are using STACK compared to the old-fashioned way.”

The market right now is very fruitful with a lot of jobs available for the taking! “It’s very simple to win more work… we need to bid the jobs, win the jobs, get the jobs, and deliver”, says Les Gatto. “STACK has given us the time to submit a lot more jobs and in turn, win more jobs.”
